Human Beta-secretase 2 (BACE2) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this colorimetric sandwich ELISA is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Beta-secretase 2 (BACE2). The kit is reactive with human samples and is suited to neuroscience research, detecting natural and recombinant human Beta-secretase 2 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids.

Performance characteristics reported by the manufacturer include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL. Precision is reported as an intra-assay CV of 4.9% and an inter-assay CV of 8.0%. Linearity was demonstrated across serial dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. Recovery in spiked samples averaged 102% in serum (range 96-108%) and 104% in plasma (range 98-110%).

Beta-secretase 2 (UniProt Q9Y5Z0) is classified as an aspartic-type endopeptidase (EC 3.4.23.45) and is responsible for the proteolytic processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP). According to UniProt, BACE2 cleaves APP between residues 690 and 691 and, alternatively, between residues 671 and 672, generating extracellular beta-cleaved soluble APP. The kit is supplied for research use only and supports studies into the mechanisms of amyloid-beta production relevant to neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
