Human Beta-defensin 114 (DEFB114) ELISA Kit

The assay is intended for research use only and shows reactivity with human samples. It is specific for both natural and recombinant human Beta-defensin 114 and uses a colorimetric ELISA detection method.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 34pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is reported at 4.2% CV, with inter-assay precision at 7.8% CV. Linearity has been established for serum (86-98% to 93-103% across dilutions 1:2 to 1:16), EDTA plasma (94-94% to 101-113%), and heparin plasma (99-109% to 110-120%). Recovery is 88% (range 82-94%) for serum and 90% (range 84-96%) for plasma.

Beta-defensin 114 is a secreted antimicrobial peptide of the innate immune system with salt-sensitive activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli, Gram-positive bacteria such as S. aureus, and fungi including C. albicans. It binds and neutralizes bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), has antibacterial activity, and is implicated in defense responses and negative regulation of LPS-mediated signaling. The kit is suitable for studies in inflammatory conditions, infections, and immune-related disorders.
