The Assay Genie Human BCMO1 ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of Beta-Carotene-15,15'-monooxygenase 1, the iron-dependent dioxygenase that catalyzes symmetric cleavage of provitamin A carotenoids (β-carotene, α-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin) into retinaldehyde, a key rate-limiting step in vitamin A biosynthesis. Researchers investigating retinol metabolism, carotenoid bioavailability, single-nucleotide polymorphisms affecting provitamin A conversion efficiency (such as the A379V and T267M variants), or hepatic retinoid homeostasis can use this microplate-based workflow to quantify BCO1 protein levels in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and other biofluids.

The quantitative immunometric assay uses paired antibodies supplied in vials, supporting reproducible absorbance readings and standard curve generation across a defined dynamic range. Each kit provides pre-coated plate wells, diluents, wash buffer, and conjugate reagents sufficient for a full plate of determinations.

Handling: Store kit components refrigerated upon arrival; allow reagents to equilibrate to room temperature before use. Protect conjugate vials from light. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of prepared samples and aliquot working solutions when possible. For research use only — not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
