Description

A colorimetric sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the precise measurement of human BCO2 levels in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. BCO2 is an enzyme responsible for the conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A, and dysregulation of its activity has been associated with conditions including vitamin A deficiency and certain cancers. The assay uses a biotin-labelled detection antibody and HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) with TMB substrate, and absorbance is read at 450 nm. The procedure includes primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, detection antibody binding for 60 minutes, and SABC binding for 30 minutes.

Performance characteristics quoted by the manufacturer include a sensitivity of 0.469 ng/mL and a working range of 0.781–50 ng/mL. Linearity in serum (n=5) at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions is 86-103%, 89-103% and 88-99%; EDTA plasma (n=5) 89-96%, 83-96% and 85-98%; heparin plasma (n=5) 80-91%, 80-99% and 87-93%. Recovery ranges are serum (n=5) 85-105% (average 99%), EDTA plasma (n=5) 91-102% (average 95%) and heparin plasma (n=5) 87-103% (average 95%). The kit is stored at 2-8°C for 12 months and is for research use in cell biology applications.
