Human Bcl-2 ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this colorimetric Sandwich ELISA immunoassay enables the in vitro quantitative determination of Human Bcl-2 (also known as B-cell CLL/lymphoma 2 and apoptosis regulator Bcl-2) in serum, plasma, and other biological fluids using a double antibody detection format. The kit is intended for research use only.

Performance specifications include a sensitivity of 0.938 ng/ml and an assay range of 1.563–100 ng/ml. Intra-assay precision is reported as CV <8% and inter-assay precision as CV <10%. Spike-and-recovery studies yielded averages of 96% in serum (range 85–102%), 93% in EDTA plasma (range 85–103%), and 92% in UFH plasma (range 87–100%). Linearity, assessed by serial dilution of spiked samples, gave recovery percentages of 82–103% across serum, EDTA plasma, and UFH plasma at 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions. Kit components should be stored at 4 °C for 6 months unless otherwise indicated.

According to UniProt (accession P10415), Bcl-2 is an anti-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family that regulates cell death by controlling mitochondrial membrane permeability and inhibits caspase activity by preventing cytochrome c release from mitochondria and/or by binding the apoptosis-activating factor (APAF-1). The protein localises primarily to the mitochondrial outer membrane, and the NCBI summary notes that constitutive expression of BCL2, such as that caused by translocation to the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus, is thought to underlie follicular lymphoma.
