Human BCAN/Brevican ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of brevican (BCAN) in human samples. Brevican is an extracellular matrix protein that contributes to cell adhesion, migration, and neurite outgrowth, and its dysregulation has been linked to neurological disorders including Alzheimer's disease and epilepsy. The assay uses a double-antibody sandwich format with colorimetric readout and is intended to support research in cell biology applications.

Performance specifications include a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a standard range of 0.313–20 ng/mL. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. In spiked recovery testing, serum gave 86–97% recovery (average 91%), EDTA plasma 90–101% (average 95%), and heparin plasma 89–99% (average 92%). Linearity across 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions ranged from 80–105% across the same matrices.

The procedure is carried out over six steps with incubations at 37°C, ending with TMB color development and absorbance measurement at 450 nm. Unopened kit components are stored at 2–8°C for up to 12 months.
