Description

A sandwich-format enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Bactericidal Permeability Increasing Protein (BPI), a protein described as a key component of the innate immune system that plays a role in the body's defense against bacterial infections. Elevated BPI levels have been linked to various inflammatory conditions and immune disorders, making the protein a biomarker of research interest.

Validated for use with human serum and plasma samples, the kit also supports additional sample types including cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, with detection carried out colorimetrically at 450 nm following TMB substrate development in a double-antibody sandwich format.

Reported performance varies by configuration. One lists a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL with a measuring range of 0.313–20 ng/mL; another lists a sensitivity of 0.11 ng/mL with a range of 0.32–20 ng/mL and an assay length of 3.5h. The latter also reports intra-assay precision of CV%<8% and inter-assay precision of CV%<10%. Recovery values across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma fall in the ranges of 91–98%, 87–104%, and 88–99% in one configuration, and 92–105%, 83–95%, and 87–99% in another. The target protein is catalogued under Uniprot P17213 and is also known by the synonym CAP 57, with the kit stored at 2-8°C for 12 months.
