Human ATP Binding Cassette Transporter A4 (ABCA4) ELISA Kit

This Assay Genie immunoassay quantifies human ATP Binding Cassette Transporter A4 (ABCA4) protein in tissue homogenates and cell lysates. ABCA4 functions as a retinal-specific flippase localized in photoreceptor outer segments, where it transports N-retinylidene-phosphatidylethanolamine across disc membranes following photon absorption. Loss-of-function mutations in ABCA4 cause autosomal recessive Stargardt disease, the most common inherited juvenile macular dystrophy, and contribute to cone-rod dystrophy and age-related macular degeneration susceptibility.

Ophthalmology and vision researchers apply the kit to profile ABCA4 expression across patient samples, animal models, and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived retinal organoids. Reagents are supplied in vials sufficient for 96 assays, and the kit is restricted to research use only. Capture antibodies specific for human ABCA4 are pre-coated onto the plate, and detection is read on a standard microplate reader at an appropriate wavelength.
