ARSB is a lysosomal sulfatase that removes sulfate groups from N-acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfate residues on chondroitin sulfate and dermatan sulfate glycosaminoglycans. Deficiency of this enzyme causes mucopolysaccharidosis VI (MPS VI, Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome), and altered ARSB activity has been investigated in tumor, inflammatory, and connective tissue contexts.

The kit supports quantitative measurement in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and other human sample matrices using an absorbance-based microplate read-out against a supplied standard curve.
