Description

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase (DDC), a homodimeric enzyme that catalyses the decarboxylation of L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) to dopamine, L-5-hydroxytryptophan to serotonin, and L-tryptophan to tryptamine. The kit is intended for research use only and is relevant to neurosciences research, where DDC is studied as a potential biomarker in conditions such as Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and depression.

Detection is colorimetric and the assay is reactive with human samples, validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Specificity is reported for natural and recombinant human DDC (UniProt P20711). Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.186 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 8.1%, and an inter-assay CV of 10.2%. Linearity for serum (N=5) ranges from 86–95% at 1:2 to 104–114% at 1:16, EDTA plasma (N=5) from 89–99% to 96–109%, and heparin plasma (N=5) from 106–116% to 82–92% across the same dilutions. Recovery is reported as 80–88% in serum (average 82%) and 80–90% in plasma (average 84%).
