Built around a 96-assay microplate format, this immunoassay from Assay Genie quantifies human Arginase 1 (ARG1), a manganese metalloenzyme central to hepatic urea cycling and M2 macrophage immunoregulation. The kit supports work in immunology, hepatology, and oncology laboratories that investigate tumor-associated myeloid cells, liver injury models, and inflammatory microenvironments. ARG1 hydrolyzes L-arginine to ornithine and urea, competing with inducible nitric oxide synthase for the same substrate, so ARG1 readouts help researchers map immune cell polarization and T-cell suppressive mechanisms.

Each kit is supplied with a pre-coated plate, standards, and detection reagents for building a calibration curve on a standard absorbance reader. The protocol accommodates cell culture supernatant, plasma, and serum samples, enabling direct comparison of hepatocyte-conditioned media, primary tissue lysates, and clinical specimens within a single experimental batch while minimizing inter-assay variability.

In immuno-oncology pipelines, elevated ARG1 in tumor-associated macrophages is a recognized driver of T-cell suppression, and the kit is a useful screen for arginase-pathway drug candidates and for characterizing the suppressive tumor microenvironment. Combined with iNOS expression or downstream polyamine markers, ARG1 quantification gives a fuller picture of myeloid phenotype in tissue samples and cell-based models.
