Human Arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase (ALOX15) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase (ALOX15) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, using a colorimetric detection method. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human ALOX15, also referenced by synonyms including 12/15-lipoxygenase, 15-LOX, 12-LOX, LOG15, Arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase leukocyte-type, and Arachidonate omega-6 lipoxygenase (UniProt P16050).

ALOX15 is a non-heme iron-containing dioxygenase that catalyzes the stereo-specific peroxidation of free and esterified polyunsaturated fatty acids, generating bioactive lipid mediators. It converts arachidonic acid into 12-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (12-HPETE) and 15-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (15-HPETE), and converts linoleic acid to 13-hydroperoxyoctadecadienoic acid. The enzyme plays a role in inflammation, immune response, oxidative stress, and cell growth. Dysregulation of ALOX15 has been linked to cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and asthma, supporting its use as a potential biomarker for research and therapeutic development, including within the cardiovascular research area.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.085 ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 7.1% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. Linearity was demonstrated in serum (91–121%), EDTA plasma (98–114%), and heparin plasma (85–125%) across serial dilutions, with average recovery of 99% in serum and 101% in plasma.
