Human Apoptosis regulator BAX (BAX) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of human Apoptosis regulator BAX in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human Apoptosis regulator BAX and is intended for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.11ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 5.1% and inter-assay CV is 9.0%. Linearity in serum (N=5) spans 104-114% at 1:2, 93-104% at 1:4, 101-111% at 1:8 and 80-90% at 1:16; EDTA plasma (N=5) shows 104-113%, 98-108%, 104-113% and 111-120% across the same dilutions; heparin plasma (N=5) shows 86-95%, 89-101%, 99-109% and 95-105%. Average recovery is 97% for serum (range 91-103%) and 99% for plasma (range 93-105%).

BAX is a pro-apoptotic member of the BCL2 protein family that accelerates programmed cell death by binding to and antagonising the apoptosis repressor BCL2 or its adenovirus homolog E1B 19k protein. Under stress conditions it undergoes a conformation change that causes translocation to the mitochondrial membrane, leading to release of cytochrome c and activation of CASP3, thereby triggering apoptosis. The target is also known as Bcl-2-like protein 4 or BCL2L4, is referenced under UniProt entry Q07812 with a molecular weight of 19,718 Da, and is associated with research in Neurosciences.
