Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF) is a mitochondrial flavoprotein central to caspase-independent cell death, and the Assay Genie Human AIF ELISA Kit delivers quantitative measurement of this protein in human specimens. Upon apoptotic signaling, AIF (encoded by AIFM1) is cleaved and translocates from the mitochondrial intermembrane space to the nucleus, where it triggers chromatin condensation and large-scale DNA fragmentation independent of caspase activity. Researchers investigating mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in cancer, neurodegeneration, ischemic injury, and inflammatory disease models depend on AIF quantification to monitor this pathway.

Configured as a 96-assay microplate pack, the kit uses a two-site immunoassay design that supports routine laboratory workloads. Standard curves are generated from the calibrators supplied, and the procedure is intended for research use only. Reagents should be handled per the enclosed insert, with unused strips stored dry and protected from light; reconstituted material and working standards require refrigerated storage to preserve binding activity. The procedure is performed in a standard microplate format compatible with common plate readers, with results read at the absorbance wavelength specified for the substrate chemistry.

This Assay Genie kit accepts a panel of human specimen types, including blood-derived fractions, tissue homogenates, and cell lysates, enabling investigators to combine biofluid and tissue readouts within the same experimental framework. Applications span cell biology, toxicology, and translational research, including monitoring AIF release into the cytoplasm or accumulation in tissue lysates from patient cohorts and corresponding cell or animal model systems. The kit offers a practical tool for cross-sectional studies and longitudinal experiments probing mitochondrial dysfunction, chemotherapy-induced apoptosis, and neurodegeneration.
