Description

Assay Genie offers a Sandwich ELISA Kit designed for the quantitative measurement of human Apolipoprotein D (APOD), also known by the synonym Apo-D. The kit is reactive with human samples and is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 6.25-400ng/mL and a sensitivity of 1.56ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 4.1% and an inter-assay CV of 7.4%. Specificity is confirmed against natural and recombinant human Apolipoprotein D. APOD is a homodimer (in plasma it also exists as a disulfide-linked heterodimer with APOA2), is classified as a secreted protein, and is associated with cardiovascular research. Functionally, APOD occurs in the macromolecular complex with lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase and is probably involved in the transport and binding of bilin, belonging to the calycin superfamily and lipocalin family (UniProt P05090; molecular weight 21,276 Da).

Reported linearity for serum (N=5) ranges from 109-118% at a 1:2 dilution to 101-113% at 1:16, with EDTA plasma at 98-107% down to 81-93% and heparin plasma at 94-105% down to 97-107% across the same dilutions. Recovery is reported as an average of 88% (range 82-94%) for serum and 90% (range 84-96%) for plasma. The kit includes a dismountable ELISA microplate (8×12 strips), lyophilized standard, sample and assay diluents, detection reagents A and B, wash buffer, substrate solution, stop solution and plate sealers, with component-specific storage conditions provided.
