Apolipoprotein C-II (ApoC2) is a small circulating glycoprotein (~8.9 kDa) that functions as an obligate cofactor for lipoprotein lipase, the rate-limiting enzyme responsible for hydrolyzing triglycerides carried on chylomicrons and very low-density lipoprotein particles. Quantitative measurement of ApoC2 is relevant to research on familial chylomicronemia (Type I hyperlipoproteinemia), insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and lipid-related cardiovascular risk. This Assay Genie kit is supplied as a complete microplate immunoassay providing 96 individual assay determinations per plate, supporting measurement in human cell culture supernatants, plasma, and serum samples. Standard curves are constructed from serial dilutions of the supplied reference, allowing interpolation of unknown sample concentrations across a defined working range. The protocol uses small sample volumes (typically 50–100 µL per well), making the assay practical when only limited clinical or pediatric specimens are available. Unopened kit components should be kept refrigerated, while reconstituted standards benefit from being aliquoted and stored frozen to limit degradation across repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Because ApoC2 normally resides on the surface of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, investigators often interpret results alongside circulating triglyceride concentrations when studying metabolic and cardiovascular phenotypes.
