ANTXR2, also called capillary morphogenesis protein 2 (CMG2), functions as a type I transmembrane receptor that mediates anthrax toxin entry and contributes to endothelial capillary formation, extracellular matrix interactions, and vascular development. Loss-of-function mutations in the ANTXR2 gene are linked to juvenile hyaline fibromatosis and infantile systemic hyalinosis, rare autosomal recessive connective tissue disorders characterized by abnormal hyaline deposition.
