Description

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise and accurate measurement of Antileukoproteinase (SLPI) levels in human samples. Reactivity is limited to human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Antileukoproteinase.

Performance characteristics quoted by the manufacturer include a detection range of 31.2-2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 12 pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is reported at 4.1% CV and inter-assay precision at 7.4% CV. Linearity has been assessed in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 (n=5), with reported ranges of 103-115%, 109-120%, 90-99% and 91-101% for serum; 101-111%, 88-98%, 99-111% and 98-108% for EDTA plasma; and 101-112%, 102-112%, 92-101% and 97-107% for heparin plasma. Recovery averages 100% (range 94-106%) in serum and 102% (range 96-108%) in plasma.

SLPI is described as an acid-stable proteinase inhibitor with strong affinities for trypsin, chymotrypsin, elastase and cathepsin G. It modulates inflammatory and immune responses following bacterial infection, down-regulates responses to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS), plays a role in regulating NF-kappa-B activation, and has antimicrobial activity against mycobacteria. It also contributes to normal resistance against M. tuberculosis and L. major infection and supports normal wound healing. The protein is secreted, with UniProt accession P03973 and a reported molecular weight of 14,326 Da (NCBI Gene ID: 6590). The kit is intended for research use only and is listed under the Cardiovascular research area.
