Description

A sandwich-format ELISA from Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of human anti-Survivin antibody (ASuA). The assay uses colorimetric detection and is reactive with human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatates and other biological fluids, and recognises natural and recombinant human anti-Survivin antibody. Manufacturer specifications list a detection range of 0.78-50 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.39 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.7% and an inter-assay CV of 7.2%. The kit is for research use only.

Survivin (also called baculoviral inhibitor of apoptosis repeat-containing 5 or BIRC5) is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family that functions to inhibit caspase activation and negatively regulate programmed cell death. It is expressed highly in most human tumours and fetal tissue but is absent in terminally differentiated cells, making it a target of interest in cancer research. Survivin expression is restricted to the G2-M phase of the cell cycle, and its regulation is linked to the p53 protein and to beta-catenin within the Wnt pathway.
