Human Anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase antibody ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit uses a double antigen format with colorimetric detection to quantitatively measure anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) antibodies — also referred to as GAD-Ab — in human samples.

The assay accepts serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid sample types. Stated sensitivity is 0.938 ng/mL with a working range of 1.563–100 ng/mL. Because glutamic acid decarboxylase catalyses synthesis of the neurotransmitter GABA, anti-GAD antibodies are a marker of interest in autoimmune research, including type 1 diabetes and neurological conditions such as stiff person syndrome.

The kit is stored at 2–8°C (sealed) and should not be cryopreserved. The workflow includes plate and reagent equilibration, a 90-minute primary incubation at 37°C, a 60-minute biotin-labelled antigen binding step, 30 minutes of HRP-streptavidin binding, TMB colour development in the dark, and a final absorbance read at 450 nm after adding stop solution.
