Assay Genie's Human AMT ELISA Kit supports research into aminomethyltransferase, the mitochondrial T-protein of the glycine cleavage system (GCS) that transfers a methylene group to tetrahydrofolate during glycine catabolism. Mutations in the AMT gene cause nonketotic hyperglycinemia, making quantitative measurement of this enzyme valuable for studies of one-carbon folate metabolism and mitochondrial function. This human-specific assay shows no significant cross-reactivity with rat or mouse aminomethyltransferase, enabling clean discrimination of the human protein in research samples. The microplate-based kit includes pre-coated wells, biotinylated detection antibody, recombinant standards, and TMB substrate sufficient for quantitative analysis. Reconstituted standards should be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20°C, with up to four freeze-thaw cycles tolerated for working dilutions.
