Amnionless (AMN) is a transmembrane protein that partners with cubilin to form the cubam receptor complex in the ileal epithelium, where it mediates uptake of the intrinsic factor-vitamin B12 complex. Loss-of-function mutations in AMN cause Imerslund-Gräsbeck syndrome, a rare hereditary megaloblastic anemia characterized by selective cobalamin malabsorption and proteinuria.
