Description

Assay Genie provides a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of human Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidase (NAGA), a lysosomal enzyme also known as alpha-galactosidase B. The enzyme removes terminal alpha-N-acetylgalactosamine residues from glycolipids and glycopeptides, and the kit is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.1 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.2% and inter-assay CV is 8.3%. Linearity has been validated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Recovery averages 96% in serum (range 90–102%) and 98% in plasma (range 92–104%). The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human NAGA, a homodimer encoded by Uniprot P17050 and located in the lysosome, with relevance to metabolism research.

The kit is reactive with human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and uses a colorimetric detection method. Dysregulation of NAGA has been linked to Schindler disease (including Kanzaki disease) and galactosialidosis, supporting its use as a biomarker for studying lysosomal storage disorders and evaluating potential therapeutic interventions.
