The Assay Genie aMACR ELISA Kit provides quantitative measurement of Alpha-Methylacyl-CoA Racemase (AMACR), also known as P504S, in human tissue homogenates and cell lysates. AMACR is a peroxisomal and mitochondrial enzyme essential for the beta-oxidation of branched-chain fatty acids and the conversion of (R)-alpha-methyl branched-chain fatty acyl-CoA esters to their (S)-stereoisomers. It plays a central role in bile acid synthesis and is widely investigated as a tissue biomarker for prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and prostate adenocarcinoma. The microplate-based workflow enables research use only measurement of AMACR protein levels in laboratory samples, supporting studies in prostate cancer research, peroxisomal disorder investigations, and metabolic pathway analysis. The kit uses human-specific antibodies with no significant cross-reactivity with other racemases, allowing accurate quantification of AMACR expression across different tissue types for research into lipid metabolism disorders including Refsum disease.
