Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie intended for the quantitative measurement of human Alpha-lactalbumin (LALBA) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is reactive with human samples and detects natural and recombinant human Alpha-lactalbumin.

Performance specifications include a detection range of 0.625-40ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.31ng/mL, an Intra CV of 6.2% and an Inter CV of 10.3%. Linearity has been validated in serum (104-117% at 1:2 down to 90-100% at 1:16), EDTA plasma (94-104% to 108-120%) and heparin plasma (86-96% to 108-118%). Recovery in serum averages 101% (range 95-107%) and in plasma averages 103% (range 97-109%).

Alpha-lactalbumin is the regulatory subunit of lactose synthase, modifying the substrate specificity of galactosyltransferase so that glucose becomes a good acceptor substrate, enabling lactose biosynthesis in the mammary gland. The protein is secreted, belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 22 family and has a molecular weight of 16,225 Da (UniProt P00709). Intended for research use only, the kit is relevant to cancer research, and measurement of alpha-lactalbumin levels can provide insights into conditions such as inflammation, allergies and cancer.
