Human alpha Fetoprotein ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in human samples. It uses a sandwich ELISA format with a double-antibody detection method and offers a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL across a working range of 0.313–20 ng/mL.

The assay is validated for serum, plasma (EDTA and heparin), cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Linearity and recovery have been characterised for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions. The kit includes a pre-coated microplate, lyophilised standard, biotin-labelled detection antibody, HRP-streptavidin conjugate, TMB substrate, sample and antibody dilution buffers, wash buffer, stop solution, plate sealer and a technical manual. Components should be stored at 2–8°C, protected from direct light where indicated, and the kit remains stable at 2–8°C for up to 12 months.

The workflow comprises reagent and plate equilibration, a primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, detection antibody binding for 60 minutes, HRP-streptavidin binding for 30 minutes, TMB colour development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, and a stop reaction read at 450 nm. AFP (Uniprot Q12899) is a recognised biomarker for liver disease, certain cancers and pregnancy-related conditions, supporting research applications in hepatic function, oncology and reproductive health.
