Human alpha 5 Defensin/DEFA5 ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of human alpha 5 Defensin (DEFA5). Using a double-antibody format with colorimetric detection, the kit is reactive with human serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid sample types. Sensitivity is 9.375 pg/mL and the assay range spans 15.625-1000 pg/mL. DEFA5 acts as an antimicrobial peptide within the innate immune system, defending against various pathogens and serving as a biomarker for studies of immune-related conditions, infections, and inflammatory disease.

Validated linearity in serum is 87-104% at 1:2, 85-103% at 1:4, and 94-99% at 1:8; in EDTA plasma 83-93%, 83-98%, and 84-95%; and in heparin plasma 80-98%, 80-86%, and 83-100%. Recovery averages reach 91% in serum, 91% in EDTA plasma, and 96% in heparin plasma. The procedure uses a 90-minute primary incubation at 37°C, 60-minute biotin-labelled detection antibody binding, 30-minute HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) binding, and 10-20 minute TMB substrate development in the dark, with absorbance read at 450 nm after stop solution.
