AHSG, also known as fetuin-A, is a key glycoprotein involved in regulating insulin sensitivity, inhibiting ectopic calcification, and modulating inflammation. The assay has a detection range of 3.12-200ng/mL with a sensitivity of 1.56ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 6.1% and inter-assay CV is 7.4%. Linearity has been validated in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma samples, and recovery in serum is 98% (range 92-104%), while plasma recovery is 100% (range 94-106%).

The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human Alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein, a secreted protein of the fetuin family. It functions in endocytosis, has opsonic properties, and influences the mineral phase of bone, with affinity for calcium and barium ions.
