Alpha-1-Microglobulin/bikunin Precursor (AMBP) is a liver-derived glycoprotein processed into alpha-1-microglobulin, a heme-binding antioxidant, and bikunin, a Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor. The Human alpha-1-Microglobulin/bikunin Precursor ELISA Kit from Assay Genie delivers quantitative measurement of this analyte for biomedical research applications.

Quantitative determination of AMBP and its cleavage products supports investigation of proximal tubular dysfunction, glomerular filtration disorders, and oxidative-stress biomarkers. Circulating alpha-1-microglobulin has been validated as an early indicator of renal tubular injury in nephrology studies, while urinary bikunin has been characterized as a sensitive marker for tubular proteinuria and inflammatory protease activity.

The kit employs a two-site immunometric configuration in which a human-specific capture antibody is pre-coated onto the wells of a microplate. Working standards, quality controls, and human serum or plasma specimens are loaded at 100 uL per well, followed by a biotinylated detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP conjugate. The chromogenic reaction produces a measurable absorbance change read on a standard microplate spectrophotometer.

Assay Genie supplies the pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, lyophilized standard, wash buffer concentrate, chromogenic substrate solution, and stop reagent sufficient for 96 individual determinations. Reconstituted components should be kept refrigerated between uses, and the working standard freshly diluted prior to each run. The kit is intended for research use only.
