Description

Assay Genie offers a high-quality sandwich ELISA kit designed for the quantitative measurement of human Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C2 (AKR1C2). Intended for research use only, the assay provides a reliable and reproducible method for studying AKR1C2, an enzyme involved in steroid metabolism and detoxification whose dysregulation has been linked to cancer, diabetes, and drug resistance.

The kit is reactive with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. It shows specificity for natural and recombinant human AKR1C2 and uses a colorimetric detection method. Performance specifications include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL, a sensitivity of 15.7pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.6%, and an inter-assay CV of 7.9%.

Linearity has been validated across serial dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16) in serum (N=5), EDTA plasma (N=5), and heparin plasma (N=5). Recovery in serum averages 92% (range 86-98%) and in plasma averages 94% (range 88-100%). The target protein is located in the cytoplasm and works in concert with the 5-alpha/5-beta-steroid reductases to convert steroid hormones into 3-alpha/5-alpha and 3-alpha/5-beta tetrahydrosteroids, catalysing the inactivation of 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone to 5-alpha-androstane-3-alpha,17-beta-diol.
