Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the accurate quantification of human aldehyde oxidase (AOX1) levels in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids, and is intended for research use only.

Aldehyde oxidase is a cytoplasmic enzyme with broad substrate specificity that oxidizes aromatic azaheterocycles such as N1-methylnicotinamide and N-methylphthalazinium, as well as aldehydes including benzaldehyde, retinal, pyridoxal, and vanillin. It plays a key role in the metabolism of xenobiotics and drugs containing aromatic azaheterocyclic substituents, participates in the bioactivation of prodrugs such as famciclovir (catalyzing the oxidation step from 6-deoxypenciclovir to penciclovir), and may be a prominent source of superoxide generation. The natural and recombinant human protein is a homodimer encoded by the AOX1 gene (UniProt Q06278).

The colorimetric assay has a detection range of 0.625-40ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.31ng/mL. The plate is read at 450 nm using a standard microplate reader.
