The ALDH1A1 enzyme belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family and catalyzes the NAD-dependent oxidation of retinaldehyde to retinoic acid, a central step in retinoid signaling and in the cellular clearance of reactive aldehydes such as acetaldehyde. Elevated ALDH1A1 activity is widely studied as a marker of cancer stem-like populations in lung, breast, ovarian, colon, and pancreatic tumors, and is also investigated in the context of chemotherapy resistance, alcohol metabolism, and developmental biology.

This Assay Genie kit is supplied as a complete 96-assay plate format with all reagents needed for quantitative measurement of human ALDH1A1 protein across human specimen types, including peripheral whole blood derivatives, tissue homogenate preparations, and cultured cell lysates. The colorimetric readout integrates directly with standard microplate readers used in most research laboratories, and each kit provides sufficient components for a full plate of determinations without pooling reagents across runs.

Typical applications include profiling ALDH1A1 expression in tumor biopsy homogenates, screening cultured human cancer cell lines for stem-like subpopulations, and correlating enzyme levels with retinoid pathway activity in clinical cohorts. The kit is validated for research use only and is intended to support laboratory investigations of aldehyde metabolism, cancer stem cell biology, and oncology biomarker discovery in translational research settings.
