The Assay Genie Human Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) ELISA Kit provides a quantitative immunoassay for measuring ALT (also known as SGPT, or serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase) in human specimens. ALT is a pyridoxal-5'-phosphate-dependent transaminase that catalyzes the reversible conversion of L-alanine and 2-oxoglutarate into pyruvate and L-glutamate, and serum ALT activity is one of the most widely used biomarkers of hepatocellular injury in clinical chemistry.

This assay is intended for research use only and is widely deployed in studies of liver function, hepatotoxicity screening, viral hepatitis research, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and steatohepatitis (NASH) investigations, drug-induced liver injury (DILI) workflows, and metabolic disorder research. It accepts a broad range of human sample matrices including serum samples, plasma samples, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants, supporting both in vitro and translational research workflows.

The kit is supplied in a microplate format with 96 assays per box and uses a colorimetric readout. The standard workflow involves a pre-coated capture plate, sequential addition of standards or samples, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, chromogenic substrate, and stop solution, with absorbance read on a standard microplate reader. All reagents should be equilibrated to room temperature before use and stored according to the product insert.

Common research applications include hepatic biomarker discovery, oxidative stress studies, mitochondrial dysfunction assays, biomarker validation for liver disease diagnostics, and high-throughput screening in academic and pharmaceutical laboratories.
