Human Aggrecan (AGC) ELISA Kit

Aggrecan, the large aggregating proteoglycan that defines the compressive resilience of articular cartilage, is a central biomarker of osteoarthritis progression and cartilage matrix turnover. The Assay Genie Human Aggrecan (AGC) ELISA Kit quantifies this proteoglycan in human-derived research samples using a microplate-based immunoassay run as 96 assays per plate and read on a standard absorbance plate reader.

The format supports high-throughput screening of cartilage explant culture supernatants, synovial fluid, and conditioned media from chondrocyte or mesenchymal stem cell differentiation studies. Pre-coated wells, calibrated reference standards, detection reagents, and assay buffer are provided to generate a standard curve for interpolating unknown aggrecan concentrations.

For research use only, the assay is well suited to investigations into aggrecanase activity (ADAMTS-4 and ADAMTS-5), cytokine-driven cartilage catabolism, and the protective effects of candidate chondroprotective compounds in vitro and in vivo. It complements gene-expression and histological readouts when characterising engineered cartilage constructs, biomarker panels in clinical biobank studies, and longitudinal models of cartilage degradation.
