Quantitative measurement of human adiponectin is supported by this Assay Genie ELISA Kit, formatted as a 96 Assays microplate assay suitable for research use only. Adiponectin is a 244-residue adipokine hormone secreted almost exclusively by mature adipocytes, with the biologically active full-length form and a cleaved globular domain coexisting in circulation. Circulating concentrations are typically high in lean, insulin-sensitive individuals and fall markedly in obesity, type 2 diabetes, and related metabolic disorders, making adiponectin a widely studied biomarker in metabolic, cardiovascular, and inflammation research.

The kit employs a matched antibody pair immobilized on the plate to capture adiponectin from the specimen, with an enzyme-labelled secondary reagent generating a colour intensity proportional to bound target. Absorbance readings are then interpolated against a standard curve constructed from recombinant human adiponectin calibrators. Pre-coated wells, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent are supplied for the full plate workflow. The assay is reactive with human specimens and intended for research use only in a laboratory setting.

Applications include biomarker profiling in metabolic disease cohorts, adipose tissue biology, atherosclerosis studies, NAFLD research, and longitudinal monitoring of responses to interventions such as caloric restriction, exercise regimens, thiazolidinedione therapy, or GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment. The kit can also be applied to cell culture supernatant from differentiated adipocyte models, supporting in vitro investigation of adipokine secretion under pharmacological or nutritional challenge. Standard curves spanning the physiological and pathological range of adiponectin allow direct comparison between lean and obese study groups within the same plate run.
