Quantitative measurement of human A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 12 (ADAM-12) is supported by this research-grade kit from Assay Genie. ADAM-12 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that participates in ectodomain shedding, cell-cell adhesion, and extracellular matrix remodeling. It has been studied as a candidate biomarker in preeclampsia screening, where maternal blood elevations across the first and second trimesters have been associated with early-onset disease, and in oncology research contexts including breast, gastric, bladder, and lung tumor investigations, where altered ADAM-12 expression has been documented in tumor tissue and circulating samples.

Reactive specifically with human ADAM-12, this assay supports studies of trophoblast invasion, wound healing, fibrotic disease, and tumor microenvironment interactions where human plasma, serum, or cell culture supernatant serves as the input material. ADAM-12 proteolytic activity against substrates such as insulin-like growth factor binding proteins and heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor underlies its interest in studies of growth factor signaling and tissue remodeling.

Each kit contains the reagents needed to run a 96 assay microplate format with absorbance-based readout, allowing data collection on standard plate readers. The included standard curve supports interpolation of unknown sample concentrations, and the protocol is optimized for the listed human matrices. Storage at refrigerated conditions preserves antibody binding activity through the shelf life of the components, and aliquoting of working solutions is advised to minimize freeze-thaw cycles on the capture and detection reagents.
