Description

Acylglycerol kinase (AGK) is a mitochondrial lipid kinase that phosphorylates monoacylglycerol and diacylglycerol substrates to generate lysophosphatidic acid, a bioactive lipid mediator involved in inflammatory signaling, cell migration, and activation of the NF-κB pathway. AGK has been studied extensively in cancer biology, where its overexpression contributes to tumor invasion and metastatic spread, and in mitochondrial disease research, where biallelic AGK mutations cause Sengers syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder presenting with congenital cataracts and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

The Assay Genie Human Acylglycerol Kinase ELISA Kit is supplied as a 96-assay plate configured with a colorimetric measurement method for in vitro research use only. The assay is validated for human reactivity and accepts tissue homogenates as input material, making it applicable to studies of lipid metabolism, oncology signaling cascades, and mitochondrial enzyme expression. Reagents should be refrigerated upon receipt and equilibrated to room temperature before running the ELISA. Complete protocol details, including recommended sample dilution ranges, standard curve preparation, and incubation times, are provided in the enclosed kit insert.
