Description

This Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Acyl-CoA desaturase (SCD), and accepts sample types including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay detects natural and recombinant human Acyl-CoA desaturase. Synonyms for the target include Delta(9)-desaturase, Fatty acid desaturase, Stearoyl-CoA desaturase, Delta-9 desaturase, and hSCD1.

Reported performance figures include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL. Precision is characterised by an intra-assay CV of 5.7% and inter-assay CV of 7.0%. Linearity has been evaluated across serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, in serum (85-97% to 106-116%), EDTA plasma (98-107% to 102-112%), and heparin plasma (88-98% to 114-123%). Recovery in serum averaged 102% (range 96-108%), and in plasma averaged 104% (range 98-110%).

Acyl-CoA desaturase is a stearyl-CoA desaturase that utilises O(2) and electrons from reduced cytochrome b5 to introduce the first cis double bond at the delta-9 position into saturated fatty acyl-CoA substrates, including palmitoyl-CoA and stearoyl-CoA, yielding a mixture of 16:1 and 18:1 unsaturated fatty acids. The enzyme contributes to lipid biosynthesis, regulation of lipogenic gene expression, body energy homeostasis, and the biosynthesis of membrane phospholipids, cholesterol esters and triglycerides.
