ACTG2 is a smooth muscle isoform of gamma-actin that forms part of the contractile apparatus in visceral and vascular smooth muscle, and altered expression has been linked to visceral myopathy, intestinal hypoperistalsis syndromes, and smooth muscle remodeling in vascular disease.
