Human Actin, aortic smooth muscle (ACTA2) ELISA Kit

The assay is reactive with human samples and has been validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human Actin, aortic smooth muscle.

Quantitative performance is supported by a detection range of 3.12-200ng/mL and a sensitivity of 1.56ng/mL. Precision is reported with an intra-assay CV of 5.2% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. Linearity was assessed in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilution ratios of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with reported ranges such as 94-104% for serum at 1:2 and 97-108% for EDTA plasma at 1:2. Recovery averages 97% for serum (range 91-103%) and 99% for plasma (range 93-105%). The target protein, catalogued as UniProt P62736, is a conserved actin family member involved in cell motility and vascular smooth muscle contraction, and is localised to the cytoplasm and cytoskeleton.

ACTA2, also known as smooth muscle actin or alpha-actin-2, plays a role in smooth muscle contraction and the regulation of vascular function. Dysregulation of its expression has been linked to cardiovascular conditions including aortic aneurysm, making the kit a useful research tool for cardiovascular biology.
