Human ACTH ELISA Kit

A competitive ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of Human Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH), also known as Corticotropin, in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The assay uses a coated-antibody competitive format and reports a sensitivity of 9.375pg/ml across a measurement range of 15.625-1000pg/ml. ACTH is a peptide hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland that stimulates the production and release of glucocorticoids from the adrenal cortex. It is released in response to stressors such as exercise, hypoglycemia, or pain, and plays a key role in sympathetic nervous system function. ACTH is used as a marker for stress and has been associated with the symptoms of chronic stress such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia. The most common cause of ACTH deficiency is surgical removal or destruction of part or all of one or both adrenal glands.

Assay Genie reports recovery of 87-105% (average 98%) in serum, 89-105% (average 97%) in EDTA plasma, and 86-105% (average 98%) in UFH plasma, with intra-assay CV<8% and inter-assay CV<10%. The kit ships with a pre-coated plate and all reagents needed to run the assay, and should be stored at 4°C for 6 months.
