The Assay Genie immunoassay targets human tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5 (ACP5, also called TRAP), an enzyme secreted by activated osteoclasts and used as a circulating marker of bone resorption. Researchers studying osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, metastatic bone disease, and other skeletal disorders rely on circulating ACP5 measurements to monitor osteoclast activity and evaluate anti-resorptive therapies.

The kit is supplied as a complete 96-assay microplate package with all reagents needed for a quantitative two-antibody pair immunoassay. A pre-coated plate, matched biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-enzyme conjugate, and chromogenic substrate generate an absorbance-based readout on a standard plate reader. Standard curves are run on the same plate and unknowns are interpolated from the fitted curve.

Compatible specimens include human serum and EDTA-plasma. The assay tolerates standard freeze-thaw cycles of stored aliquots, which makes it practical for retrospective studies using biobanked material. For best signal stability, reconstituted reagents should be refrigerated promptly and the working conjugate kept away from light. Results are intended for research use only and not for clinical diagnostic interpretation.

ACP5 is also expressed in activated macrophages and dendritic cells, so the kit is useful in inflammation research and in studies of immune cell differentiation in addition to bone biology. Pairing the TRAP readout with other bone-turnover markers (such as CTX, P1NP, or osteocalcin) gives a fuller picture of skeletal remodeling in longitudinal cohorts.
