Target the AAAS gene product Aladin, a WD-repeat nucleoporin of approximately 60 kDa that localizes to the nuclear pore complex and supports nucleocytoplasmic transport. Loss-of-function mutations cause Triple A syndrome (Allgrove syndrome), a rare autosomal recessive disorder presenting with achalasia, alacrimia, and adrenal insufficiency, so quantitative measurement of circulating Aladin supports disease mechanism and biomarker research. Published applications include studies of steroidogenesis, oxidative stress response, and neurodegeneration in cell culture and primary tissue.
