Human 5-hydroxytryptamine ELISA Kit (HUFI04774)

This competitive ELISA kit from Assay Genie is intended for the quantitative determination of 5-hydroxytryptamine (also known as serotonin or 5-HT) in human samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The assay uses a competitive format coated with antigen, with colorimetric detection, a sensitivity of 0.938 ng/mL, and a measuring range of 1.563-100 ng/mL.

Dilution linearity (1:2, 1:4, 1:8) was 89-103%, 92-101% and 87-96% for serum (n=10); 93-101%, 89-101% and 84-97% for EDTA plasma (n=10); and 80-99%, 81-94% and 87-99% for heparin plasma (n=10). Spike-recovery testing gave average recoveries of 98% in serum, 93% in EDTA plasma and 95% in heparin plasma.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter involved in regulating mood, appetite, sleep and behavior, and imbalances have been associated with conditions such as depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. The kit should be stored sealed at 2-8°C and not cryopreserved.
