Human 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is intended for the detection of human 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR), a transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis and in the biosynthesis of nonsterol isoprenoids such as ubiquinone and geranylgeranyl proteins. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human HMGCR and is for research use only.

Detection is performed by colorimetric ELISA with a reported sensitivity of 0.23 ng/mL and a detection range of 0.78-50 ng/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 4.7% and an inter-assay CV of 8.3%. Linearity has been characterised across serum (85-120%), EDTA plasma (87-116%), and heparin plasma (90-123%) across serial dilutions. Recovery has been demonstrated for serum (average 104%, range 98-110%) and plasma (average 106%, range 100-112%).

Acceptable sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. The assay is relevant to cardiovascular research, including studies of lipid metabolism, dyslipidaemias, and cholesterol-related disease mechanisms.
