Human 27 OHC (27-Hydroxycholesterol) ELISA Kit (HUFI04762)

Built around a small-molecule competitive immunoassay format, this Assay Genie ELISA quantifies 27-Hydroxycholesterol (27-OHC), the most abundant oxysterol circulating in human blood. The analyte is generated primarily through the action of mitochondrial CYP27A1 (sterol 27-hydroxylase) on cholesterol, and its measurement supports research into cholesterol metabolism, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, and breast cancer signaling, where 27-OHC acts as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM).

The 96-assay microplate configuration uses an absorbance-based readout and is calibrated for human serum or plasma specimens. Additional applications include neurodegenerative disease research, where 27-OHC crosses the blood-brain barrier, and studies of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
