Recombinant human 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH, encoded by HPGD) supplied as a 50 µg single-use vial for biochemical and cell-based research. This NAD+-dependent oxidoreductase catalyzes the first oxidation step of prostaglandins such as PGE2, converting them to 15-keto metabolites and terminating their signaling, which makes it a central catabolic node of the prostaglandin pathway.
Researchers apply this reagent to characterize enzyme kinetics, evaluate substrate specificity across PGE2, PGF2α, and related eicosanoids, and to investigate the biological roles of 15-PGDH in inflammation, colon carcinogenesis, tissue regeneration, and stem cell biology. STEMCELL Technologies formats the protein as a research use only reagent; store at -80 °C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles by aliquoting on first use to preserve enzymatic activity over the working shelf life of the preparation.
