Sourced from Clostridium histolyticum, Collagenase Type I from STEMCELL Technologies is a lyophilized enzyme preparation formulated with elevated collagenase activity and balanced proteolytic activity for routine tissue dissociation workflows. Each vial contains 1 g of powdered enzyme with an activity specification of ≥125 collagenase digestion units per mg dry weight, making it well suited for digesting dense connective tissue and isolating primary hepatocytes, adipocytes, and stromal vascular cells from adipose tissue.

Researchers commonly combine this enzyme with DNase I or Trypsin-EDTA when working with fatty or fibrous samples to minimize cell clumping and improve single-cell yields for downstream analysis.
