Assay Genie's equine TAFI ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of Thrombin Activatable Fibrinolysis Inhibitor in samples from horses. TAFI, also known as carboxypeptidase B2 (CPB2), is a plasma zymogen linking coagulation and fibrinolysis; once activated by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex, it removes C-terminal lysine residues from fibrin and slows clot dissolution. In equine medicine, circulating TAFI concentrations have been studied in gastrointestinal disorders that disturb hemostasis, in exercise-related shifts of the clotting cascade, and in inflammatory states that rebalance fibrinolysis. The assay is calibrated for horse-specific reactivity, supporting veterinary research, comparative coagulation studies, and translational work on fibrinolytic pathways in sport, racing, and breeding horses.

Researchers apply this kit to breed-related comparisons of hemostatic profiles and to disease models in which attenuated fibrinolysis is suspected, such as colitis, laminitis-associated microthrombosis, and post-operative coagulopathies. The plate-based workflow is read on a standard microplate reader, and the kit should be kept refrigerated between uses to maintain reagent activity. All reagents are supplied in a single pack configured for routine laboratory schedules, including the buffers and standards needed for an in vitro quantitative readout.
