An equine-specific quantitative kit from Assay Genie, this product measures circulating myostatin, also called growth differentiation factor 8 (GDF-8), a TGF-β superfamily member that negatively regulates skeletal muscle growth. Investigators in equine exercise physiology, muscle biology, and breed genetics apply the kit to examine how circulating GDF-8 relates to muscle mass, athletic conditioning, recovery, and natural polymorphisms in the horse MSTN gene.
Configured for in vitro laboratory research, the 96 Assays microplate-format kit delivers throughput appropriate for cohort and longitudinal study designs. Reagents are supplied for measuring equine research samples, supporting investigations of muscle hypertrophy, training adaptation, post-injury recovery, and the heavy muscling phenotypes found in certain draft-type horse breeds.
